Do you like jam?
Designers can work in many different fields. But if you’re the kind of designer who wants to be part of a team of smart, creative people, making campaigns that change minds and behaviours and our entire freakin’ culture, then advertising is your jam. And guess what? We are the largest ad agency in Atlantic Canada with an exciting roster of clients, so this jam could be your favourite jam. Mmmmm, jam.
We’re looking for a Designer with an eye for really great work. (Two eyes preferably, although a branded eyepatch might be cool.) You know modern design. You have bold visual ideas – and lots of them. You’re not afraid to colour outside the lines, but you also have the intuition to know when to stay inside them.
Your technical skills must be sharp. You know typography and kerning, layout and logos, digital and social media. You are a master at Adobe Creative Suite. You embrace A.I. as a tool. Illustration skills would be a bonus. A deep hatred for drop shadows would be applauded. You can confidently design the heck out of whatever comes your way.
But you’re not alone. We are a team. So you must be collaborative and organized. We share our advice, our files, our wins, and our snacks.
Most of all, you must believe that everything should be artful. Even pie charts in PowerPoint. :)
Here at m5 you’ll find writers, artists, and strategists. Those who crunch numbers and those who write code. Quirky and quiet. Suits and sneakers. Fresh out of school and 30 years of seniority. So as long as you’re insatiably curious and kind to others, you’ll fit right in.
What you’ll do:
· Design of logos, visual brand identities, layouts, posters, websites, billboards, etc.
· Work with CD and art director to develop stylized creative for campaigns
· Have a meticulous eye for layout
· Follow all relevant brand standards on client work
· Ensure final files follow all specifications and standards for web and print
What you’ll bring:
· Your true, authentic self
· A love of art and design
· An interest in people and how they work
· A reliable eye for details
· The ability to work under deadline
· Experience as a designer or related role
· Complete proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
· A degree/diploma in graphic design, visual communications, fine art or related field
· Your portfolio or work samples (we’d love to see!)
