The Role
We are seeking a
Temporary Full-Time (12 months) Hospital Billing Clerk (FTE 1.0). Reporting to the Controller, the Hospital Billing Clerk is responsible for reviewing, auditing, and preparing claim submissions for examinations and procedures performed at EFW clinic and hospital sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs billing functions for examinations and procedures performed at EFW Hospital locations in a timely and accurate manner;
- Compiles billing information using a Radiology Information System;
- Verifies and corrects billing codes prior to submission to Alberta Health and other third parties;
- Investigates discrepancies and billing rejections, and corrects records for resubmission;
- Works directly with the accounting staff to ensure revenue and payments are properly recorded;
- Verifies and/or corrects all Alberta Health billing claims prior to weekly submission;
- Demonstrates EFW values of Compassion, Trust, and Meaning in the workplace;
- Adheres to all privacy and confidentiality policies and procedures as they relate to EFW, our patients, and our employees;
- Undertakes other related duties as assigned.
You have the following
- Completion of a Medical Office Assistant (MOA) diploma program; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which includes knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy, along with experience in a radiology environment;
- 1-3 years of previous experience with Alberta Health Services billing is preferred;
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in using a Radiology Information System (such as Health Quest) for billing functions;
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word;
- An understanding of accounting concepts (accounts payable/receivable, account reconciliations, etc.);
- Able to work independently, as well as effectively in a team environment;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Pride in accuracy and attention to detail;
- Self-motivated, analytical, keen to learn, and able to meet designated work deadlines;
