Co-op Student - Analyst, Equity Research
Location: Hybrid in Toronto
We are looking for a student to join Empire Life Investments for the summer as part of our annual student program.
The student will have a unique opportunity to work directly with seasoned investment professionals analyzing equities and assisting Analysts as well as Portfolio Managers in other
tasks that directly contribute to their respective decision making processes.
While mentorship will be provided, there is a significant amount of autonomy in this role. The student's experience will vary based on the level of interest and quality of work.

What you’ll be working on
There is no typical day, but you will spend the majority of your time on the following:
- Qualitatively and quantitatively analyzing different sectors and companies. A significant amount of time is invested in ensuring that we have a deep understanding of industry fundamentals and company positioning.
- Presenting investment conclusions to relevant investment professionals.
- Attending meetings with company management and sell side analysts as well as listening to earnings calls.
- Assisting investment professionals in ad hoc projects, all of which contribute to our process.
What we’re looking for you to have
- Interest in public markets: this will be displayed via course selection, extra-curricular activities and knowledge of market related current events.
- Attention to detail: we will invest our time in helping you learn and thrive throughout the term. In turn, we expect thoughtful and accurate work.
- Fluent in Microsoft Office and experience with Bloomberg.
- Curious and a critical thinker: student's naturally have different and valuable perspectives and insights. Your views can be value additive to our investment process.
