Skills, Abilities, and Experience (Essential Duties/Responsibilities)
As the internal resource for managers and supervisors on employment matters, ensures adherence
to Employment Legislation and Company Policies in matters relating to disciplinary and staffing decisions including, but not limited to:
A. General Human Resources Support
· Coordinating the recruitment and selection process for new team members to ensure the attraction and selection of the right capabilities and skills utilizing appropriate hiring tools including job descriptions, postings, pre-screening, testing, interviewing, reference checking, offer preparation and new employee orientation/onboarding
· Monitors utilization of the Performance Management Program and reviews the process and documentation used to evaluate and enhance job performance and to correct unacceptable workplace behaviours
· Assists and supports periodic training programs on performance management and related topics
· Providing objective facilitation in the investigation of employment issues and recommendation of solutions
· Coordinating Employment Equity Program and providing functional knowledge on diversity and employment equity issues
· Providing functional knowledge on employee engagement, assisting in administering surveys and analyzing data on employee turnover and employee satisfaction with working conditions. Updating and informing management on relevant issues and strategies to enhance employee relations.
· Monitor and recommend adjustments to total compensation practices to ensure internal equity, alignment to the market (including costing models and market ranges) and support of Company objectives and goals
· Interpreting and recommending employee relations programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures and courses of actions consistent with the Company’s Mission & Value Strategy
· Sourcing, coordinating, tracking and evaluation of training as required
· Assisting supervisors and managers in the effective communication of human resources programs and initiatives through meetings, training sessions and posted bulletins
· Administration of contractual workers; temporary workers (agencies), project/ contract employees.
· Add, edit and monitor employee’s record in HR/Payroll software
· Train existing and new employees to use web and phone version of HR/Payroll software
· Process and publish weekly and monthly HR reports
B. Compliance & General
· Responsible for all WSIB Claims Management activities and administration, including management of claims for short & long-term disability in a manner that ensures expedient return to meaningful and productive work.
· Monitoring & support for all Health & Safety activities and programs including:
o Responsible for providing training & facilitation of OHSA mandated activities
o Coordinate the development and maintenance of Health and Safety Manual
o Facilitation & coordination of JHSC committees
o Design, development and maintenance of Safety Training, Safety Metrics and WSIB Modified Duty / Return to Work programs
· Ensuring Company compliance with all employment related laws including Employment Standards, Human Rights, PIPEDA, OH&SA.
· Computer system administration support: creation and management of user profiles, backup administrator.
C. Benefits and General Administration
· Administration of all employee benefits – Health Spending Account, Health Benefits plans
· Other payroll & benefits administration general tasks, including:
o Generation of letters of employment and records of employment as applicable
o Response to employee inquires on payroll or benefits items
· General office administration tasks, including:
o Managing and ordering office supplies
· Other duties may be assigned as necessary
Additional Skill and / or experience (essential)
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources or Business Administration with a focus on Human Resources management or administration
· 3-5 years of progressive experience in a Human Resources Generalist function
· Specialized training in employment law, organisational development, employee relations, occupational health and safety preferred
· H.R. professional certification preferred (CHRP)
